The MP, Multi Purpose Connector, is a structural connector, suitable to withstand very high loads, consisting of male and female halves. Locking blocks housed in the female body engage with a groove machined into the male half.
The release and reconnection of the two halves is achieved by the rotation of the collar (manually or hydraulically), the internal cam profiles either pushing the locking blocks in, or allowing the blocks to move out, as required. A rotating collar prevents the locking blocks from disengaging when the unit is subjected to axial load and internal pressure and a safety lock pin prevents accidental or inadvertent release.
The system provides the most slimline, compact, self-contained solution currently available for loading arm and hose applications. This offers the capability of connecting to the minimum of manifold spacing without clashing.
The internal mechanism excludes the need for any external moving parts that could either fall on to adjacent equipment, present a potential danger to operating staff or hook-up on other deck equipment, etc.
The system is very easily and quickly reconnected. The combination of the conical shape of the male half and the fully retained locking blocks means that reconnection can be performed in an absolute minimum of time and with a minimum of effort.
